Jammu 09 Jan :To educate the local populace about tobacco addiction and its effects on the human body, Army organised a lecture on harmful effects of Tobacco for the local populace of Cherji, Kishtwar today.
The lecture was to impart awareness about ill effects of tobacco. During the lecture, the locals, especially the youth were sensitised about the consumption of tobacco and their harmful effects on the health, various signs and symptoms and treatment aspects. The local populace were educated that tobacco is a leading cause of diseases in respiratory aliments & cancer in our country, resulting in poor eyesight, weakening sense of taste and smell. It badly effects the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, reproductive system and digestive system.
The event promises to be a good effort to improve the health and hygiene issues in day to day life. The local populace appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that such awareness lectures by the Army will give a fillip to general hygiene amongst the people.
