The Prime Minister of Italy, H.E. Ms. Giorgia Meloni, received the President of Palestine, H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, at Palazzo Chigi in Rome.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Meloni reaffirmed the need to consolidate the ceasefire and begin the stabilisation and reconstruction of Gaza, swiftly proceeding with full implementation of President Donald Trump’s Peace Plan, including through the disarmament of Hamas, which cannot have any role in the future of the Palestinian people.
Prime Minister Meloni also highlighted Italy’s strong and constant commitment regarding both humanitarian assistance for the civilian population, through the ‘Food for Gaza’ initiative, medical evacuations and the ‘university corridor’, and the training of police forces and the reform process for the Palestinian Authority.
